BASIC PURPOSE
The Creative Associate is a contracted role embedded within the creative development and rehearsal process for new entertainment offerings across the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings portfolio. Initially, this role supports the development and execution of creative concepts but has the potential to evolve into an in-house director position, where greater responsibility creative decision-making will be assumed. The Creative Associate provides in-room support to directors, choreographers, and other creative supervisors during rehearsals, workshops, and installations, with the ability to quickly adapt, choreograph, and offer creative input on the spot when needed.
This role functions as both a production and administrative support partner in the creative space—tracking creative notes, organizing materials, and facilitating communication to ensure the rehearsal process runs efficiently while supporting the artistic vision of the lead creatives.
In addition to supporting first installs, the Creative Associate is also responsible for teaching and assisting with the second cast installation, working in tandem with the Operations team until the show is fully locked and ready for long-term operations management.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Rehearsal & Creative Room Support
- Serve as an in-room assistant to directors, choreographers, and designers during rehearsal blocks and working sessions.
- Teach and track blocking, choreographic adjustments, music edits, and other show-related changes in real time.
- Ensure daily schedules, scripts, and materials are available and accurate for the creative team and cast.
- Distribute daily call sheets, script updates, and creative notes as directed by the Creative Associate Lead.
- Oversee choreography adjustments and support creative decision-making as needed.
- Maintain accurate rehearsal documentation including blocking charts, prop/scenic tracking, music cues, and cast notes.
- Support internal creative communication by compiling, cleaning, and distributing creative notes after each session.
- Help prep decks, creative reports, or workshop summaries under guidance from the Creative Associate Lead.
- Assist in collecting, organizing, and relaying design reference materials between the creative team and external vendors (costume, scenic, choreography, etc.).
- Support incoming creative vendors during their time on site, ensuring they have what they need in the room.
- Flag any delivery, scheduling, or documentation issues to the Creative Associate Lead for resolution.
- Help maintain the creative intent and show documentation through install by organizing updates and handoff materials.
- Support the preparation of archival packets, show bibles, and asset folders for final delivery.
- Experience or formal training in theater, dance, or live performance support.
- Ability to teach, choreograph, and replicate choreography as needed by directors or choreographers.
- Strong organizational and note-taking skills, with the ability to track details across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and professional etiquette in rehearsal settings.
- Self-starter attitude, able to anticipate needs and respond with flexibility.
- Familiarity with cue sheets, blocking notation, choreography breakdowns, and basic stage terminology preferred.
