Responsibility and Authority

Production Show Operations and Maintenance

  1. Run all technical rehearsals in assigned venues/theater for NCLH produced shows and guest entertainers
  2. When applicable or requested by onboard management learn show calls and serve as back-up caller for other entertainment venue(s) onboard&
  3. When requested, shadow and perform backstage track for main venue production show Protect and maintain show integrity and approved content&
  4. Submit and manage all MXP orders and purchasing requests for designated theater/venue production equipment and consumables to Theatrical Operations Manager/Technical Production Manager as required
  5. Liaise with the Technical Production Manager to ensure all technical aspects of assigned shows and venues are running properly
  6. In coordination with the Technical Production Manager, schedule and oversee regular ‘work calls’ to ensure that all production show sets, props, and equipment are well maintained aesthetically and functionally
  7. Make sure the assigned theater venue meets all safety codes and proper safety protocols are being followed
  8. Conduct frequent inspections and physically walk-through assigned entertainment venue to ensure they are well maintained and kept according to policies
  9. Supervise the storerooms and inventories, adhering to safe storage practices

Reporting 

  1. Write and distribute voyage production reports accurately detailing show details, status of production elements, and any needs in assigned venue
  2. Write evaluation report for guest entertainer performances to provide to Theatrical Operations Manager
  3. Write venue/show synopsis for end of cruise report(s) to provide to Theatrical Operations Manager as requested by Cruise Director
  4. Ensure timely and direct reporting for any show critical equipment failures, maintenance requirements, injuries, HR related issues, or other show-stopping events to onboard and shoreside management personnel

Scheduling

  1. Work with Theatrical Operations Manager to maintain and update a production grid for the designated theater/venue to be distributed accordingly
  2. Maintain a working schedule for all production cast members and Guest entertainers performing within assigned venues
  3. Work alongside Entertainment Admin and Theatrical Operations Manager to ensure the Freestyle Daily accurately reflects the schedule as set by Cruise Director for theatrical events
  4. Secure rehearsal space as requested by Captains for cleaning or extra work i.e. aerobics room, lounges, etc.
  5. Maintain and distribute weekly schedule of events for show cast and Guest Entertainers
  6. Work with the Cruise Director and Theatrical Operations Manager to properly schedule all production installs, rehearsals and guest entertainers within assigned venue

Supervisory/Management Duties

  1. Attend weekly production meetings with Theatrical Operations Manager, Show Captains (if applicable), Wardrobe Supervisor (if applicable) and Technical Production Manager onboard to discuss schedule, issues and upcoming events
  2. Attend weekly company meetings with onboard entertainment team to discuss schedules, issues and upcoming events
  3. Attend weekly technical production meeting with Technical Production Manager and technical team members to discuss issues, maintenance and operations
  4. Address all production team and guest issues in a timely manner; seek onboard resolutions and escalate to onboard entertainment management and Manager, Theatrical Operations if unable to resolve

Training and Development

  1. Liaise with Theatrical Operations Manager to contribute to performance observations and feedback for all cast members performing in assigned venue (monthly and end of contract).
  2. In coordination with Technical Production Manager, supervise technical team in show/venue related duties and provide observations on evaluations (monthly and end of contract).
  3. Communicates standards of performance to employees by also being an ambassador and role model of all company’s policies, procedures and standards.
  4. Creates and maintains a positive work environment;
  5. Fosters teamwork within all departments onboard;
  6. Assists the onboard management in implementing and maintaining guidelines, procedures and training practices set by the corporate office.

Safety

  1. Monitor the practical application of the Company's policy, procedures and instructions.
  2. Immediately report to onboard management any instances where the vessel is unable or fails to comply with any Company’s policy, procedure, instruction, and any safety, environmental, or security requirement. 3.
  3. Participate in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions from ship’s command;
  4. Comply with company safety and pollution prevention regulations.
  5. Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Policy, SMS, operational policies and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.

Other Duties

  1. Closely coordinate with Box Office Manager and staff, ensuring that house is opened on schedule and communicate any delays in a timely fashion. Act as house manager when productions are scheduled; open venue for guests when required
  2. Performs other production related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
  3. Duties outside of those outlined above, including additional management duties on board, should be avoided during the hours of 18:00-22:00 when theatre productions are in full operation

Education and Experience

Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma require.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Theater and/or Stage Management preferred. 
  3. Experience, employment and/or training in a theatrical environment or equivalent experience in similar field. 
  4. Knowledge of cruise line entertainment and experience working on a cruise ship preferable. 
  5. Expertise in theater production operations and procedures.

  1. Able to work 7 days a week with long hours for entire contract length.
  2. Proven diplomatic ability to effectively manage a diverse team of entertainment and production professionals.
  3. Adept at communication, articulate, high level of English verbal, reading and writing competency.
  4. Highly effective organizational ability, time management, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  5. Ability to work long and demanding hours with a high level of stress management.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Q-Lab and basic a/v equipment.
  7. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external contacts from a remote location (ship).
  8. Critical thinking, problem solving skills required.
  9. Passionate about hospitality and customer service driven.
  10. Must have a professional appearance and good hygiene.
